History

Peninsula Park N Rosa Parks Way Portland OR United States is an outdoor gem 13 minutes north of downtown that abounds with gardens, playgrounds, and a swimming pool. It’s a charming neighborhood park that was designed in the early 1900s as part of the “City Beautiful” movement.

The octagonal bandstand overlooking the rose garden was constructed in 1913 and is a National Heritage historical structure. It’s one of the city’s last of its kind and was designated a Portland Historic Landmark in 1973.

Visitors can also explore the formal rose garden, which features more than 800 bushes and 100 varieties of flowers. It’s one of the most popular attractions at Peninsula Park, so be sure to schedule time to take in its beauty.

Another fun feature at Peninsula Park is the seasonal swimming pool adjacent to an Italianate-style bathhouse. It’s heated to 84 degrees and has a total capacity of 290 people. It’s a great place for kids to cool off during the summer.

Rose Garden

Community Center

Tucked under tall banks of trees along a residential stretch of North Rosa Parks Way, Peninsula Park N Rosa Parks Way Portland OR United States is a gorgeous neighborhood park. It’s one of Portland’s most beautiful destinations, featuring a rose garden, playgrounds for kids of all ages and rainbow-hued splash pads.

Designed by renowned Oregon architects Ormond R. Bean and Ellis Lawrence in 1912, Peninsula Park was a result of the city’s “City Beautiful” movement. Originally owned by local businesswoman Liverpool Liz, the 16-acre (6.5 ha) parcel was a roadhouse, racetrack for quarter-mile horse racing, auto park and campground.

Today, Peninsula Park features a seasonal swimming pool adjacent to an Italianate-style bathhouse. A fun playground with swings, monkey bars and climbing towers is behind the pool. There’s also a seasonal splash pad for hot summer days.
